His style of play, management and way he handles himself has earned him alot of respect from the media, but many are wondering whether he will get the backing from the board to acquire the players he needs to help improve this Arsenal side
Now, Le10 Sport claim Mikel Arteta has called him in an attempt to convince Rakitic to join the Gunners during the summer window.
The 32-year-old is preparing to depart the Nou Camp after six years playing for the Spanish giants, as The former Sevilla man is no longer are permanent fixture in Barcelona’s first XI, often used from the bench this season.
Although Arsenal will have a very hard time of trying to convince him to make the move to the Premier League, as reports have suggested that he would prefer to remain in Spain or head to Serie A
Arteta recently dropped a hint that he is looking to sign a new midfielder, as he is looking to add a bit more creativity to this current Arsenal midfield.
He was quoted on the SUN: “It is one of the challenges we are facing and one of the areas where we have to improve, for sure.
“Sometimes it is down to individual quality, but the whole structure is probably even more important in order to be a threat in the spaces that you want to attack.
“How consistent you are in maintaining those attacks also depends on the structure behind the ball.
“Everything is linked together and the players have to understand that.”
Rakitic is world class, but is he the right type of signing for Arsenal considering he only has a few years left at the top of the game.
