Emery to end speculation and make £40 million Arsenal move for Argentine striker Pavon
Fresh reports have claimed Arsenal are lining up a summer move for Argentine striker Christian Pavon at the end of the season.
Its is no secret that Emery is trying to build a side that is capable of getting back into the Champions League and then pushing on and challenging for the Premier League title, and a number of signings will be expected to arrive in the summer.
He has already signed up Bern Leno, Stephen Lichsteiner, Sokratis, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira, but is looking to add another winger to his squad that will give him pace and ability to take players on.
And he had hoped to complete his transfer business in the summer with the signing of Pavon, who had an impressive World Cup for Argentina, despite their early exit from the competition, but despite the admiring looks from the Gunners, Pavon decided to stay put at Boca Juniors over the summer and signed a new five-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2023.
However, Arsenal remain interested in a move for Boca Juniors striker Pavon, according to Football London website, and reports suggest that Emery will look to step up his chase in the summer if they miss out on Cengiz Under and Ismaila Sarr.
Here is what we think on the potential deal.
Arsenal are one of the best biggest sides in world football and now need to acquire the very best around, not a striker that is not proven in Europe and that has had one decent tournament at the very highest level.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are enough for Unai Emery right now, so Arsenal should save their money and wait until one of their bigger named targets becomes available..
So although Pavon is a decent player, he would not offer Emery anything better than what he currently has at the squad.
