Bayern Munich’s CEO Oliver Kahn has stated that the club have opened up talks with Arsenal target Serge Gnabry over a new contract.

Gnabry has played 167 games for Bayern and has become one of the clubs most creative, skilful and integral players at the German outfit, but there has been alot of speculation about his future

The Germans contract is out of contract at the end of next season, and with reports that talks over a new deal had not taken place, there has been some links with the Premier League

Arsenal are one of those clubs that have been linked, despite the fact the new owners have not been announced yet, and they are still keeping an eye on the situation of Gnabry and Bayern.

Now, amid all the speculation, Kahn has stated that the club have opened up talks with midfielder over a new contract, speaking to Sport1, Kahn stated: “We are in talks. Serge knows what we as a club ask of him, also in terms of performance.

“He is in a process of reflection. As soon as things become clearer we will announce it.”

Signing a new contract means nothing these days except that Arsenal may have to pay more in the coming transfer window if they seriously want to get a transfer deal done

Talks have been opened by Bayern, but clubs should still keep a closed eye, as there is a feeling that Ganbry may fancy a fresh challenge should the right opportunity arise in the coming windows

We do not believe he will leave, he will probably sign that new contract, But Bayern are not the super power that they once were and as we said, if the right offer does arrive, he could be tempted away
