Bye Bye Mesut Ozil as Arteta looking to bring midfielder Kocku to the Arsenal!
Mikel Arteta wants to bring Fenerbahce midfielder Orkun Kocku to Arsenal, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Gunners are getting ready for the re-start of the Premier League season (when it officially resumes), but that has not stopped speculation linking the club with a number of players.
We have said it before and we will say it again, Mikel Arteta is a man that needs to improve in certain areas of the pitch over the coming transfer windows to turn this Arsenal side from top four chasers, to Premier League challengers.
And there has been some reports in the media over the past few days which have suggested that Kocku will be making the move to the Emirates, and the Premier League to link up with Arteta at Arsenal.
Now, with Arsenal keen to get Mesut Ozil off the books this summer, Kocku has been identified as an attacking midfielder replacement.
The Gunners face stiff competition for the 19-year-old’s signature though, with Chelsea also keen on bringing him to the Premier League while Real Betis, Sevilla and Valencia want to lure him to Spain.
Former Manchester United star Jaap Stam recently came out and admitted that he is sure the Turkey Under-21 international has a bright future ahead of him.
‘He would need to adjust because the step to Arsenal and the Premier League is totally different when you compare it to Holland,’ Stam told Goal.
‘The pace of the game, the quality, the intensity is a lot higher.
‘But he has the ability. He is a player who has the personality to want to improve, he always wants to do better. He’s never happy with himself, he’s disappointed if he doesn’t score, or his passes aren’t good enough.
‘When I joined Feyenoord, he hadn’t played a lot because everyone said he was too young. I put him in the first team and let him play most of the games, I trusted him and saw a lot of ability in him. Now he’s proving himself in Holland and is one of the best midfield players in the country.
‘He’s certainly got the ability to make that step to the Premier League.’
Kokcu has been impressive over in the Dutch League and his numbers are impressive, but making the move to the Premier League from the Dutch League has proven very difficult for many players over the seasons.
