Arsenal all set to hand Athletic Madrid target Lacazette massive £200,000-a-week to sign up
Reports have emerged which have suggested that Arsenal are now ready to hand Alexandre Lacazette a £200,000-a-week deal.
Arsenal failed to get back inside the top four spot in the Premier League this season and missed out on Champions League football for another season, but the Gunners have a chance to win the Europa League under Unai Emery this season.
But as were now in silly season, there has been some speculation in the media which have claimed that Madrid may look to try and take the French striker away from the Emirates at the end of the season, as a possible replacement for Antoine Griezmann
Griezmann shocked Madrid just a few weeks ago after revealing that he will indeed be leaving the club in search of a fresh challenge, with the Frenchman seemingly on his way to Barcelona.
However, there are now reports on the Daily Mirror which have suggested that Arsenal are ready to sit Lacazette down and hand the Frenchman a massive £200,000-a-week deal to stay in the Premier League.
He has formed quite a partnership with Pierre-Emeric-Aubameyang, with the pair breaking the 50-goal mark last season, and keeping both players at the club this summer is vital to Arsenal’s chances of getting back into Champions League football.
The French striker recently admitted he was happy at Arsenal, saying/a>: “I’ve played the best football of my career this season and for Arsenal, not because of the goals I scored, but in my game – I really improved.
“Being able to contribute without scoring is important for the team. For me, as well as now, I enjoy working like this for my team-mates because I know it is going to be easier for them.
“I always do my best on the pitch even if sometimes I’m not good – but I always try to be the best. I fight for the club, so of course, I fight for them, for me, for my team-mates, for the coach, for my family and for everybody.
“I just want to win and everyone will support me. Everyone is behind me, so of course, I will fight for them as well.”
Lacazette is a world class striker that has really stepped up his game under Emery this season, but unless they beat Chelsea in the final at the end of the month, he has not intention of spending another season in the Europa League, despite admitting he is happy at the club.
And of course being linked with a move to La Liga is flattering, so the news Arsenal are keen to get him signed up will come as a massive relief for many fans.
