Gunners to break bank and get 19-goal hitman Lacazette signed up as Arsenal in talks to £200,000-a-week-plus deal done
There has been some reports which have claimed that Arsenal are in talks with Alexandre Lacazette about a new contract at the Emirates.
Arsenal failed to get back inside the top four spot in the Premier League this season and missed out on Champions League football for another season.
And there was some speculation in the media which have claimed that Atletico Madrid may look to try and take the French striker away from the Emirates at the end of the season, as a possible replacement for Antoine Griezmann, who signed for Barcelona towards the back end of the transfer window.
But after striking up an impressive partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is also set to ne handed a new contract, the Gunners were determined to keep hold of the Frenchman and rejected as advances to try and nail down his signature.
And now the Sun website has claimed that Arsenal are seeking to end of all speculation about the future of Lacazette by handing him a new contract at the club that will commit his immediate future to the Emirates.
It is believed the Gunners are prepared to make him one of the highest paid players at the club with a new contract well above the £200,000-a-week mark.
Lacazette is a world class striker that has really stepped up his game under Emery this season, so of course there was going to be some attention on him during the summer window, and Arsenal done well to make sure it was nothing more that pure speculation.
And of course being linked with a move to La Liga is flattering, so the news Arsenal are keen to get him signed up will come as a massive relief for many fans, and many will be hoping that a deal is wrapped up sooner rather than later.
There has been too many occasions over the past few seasons that talks over new deals, talks to potentially bring in some new faces have taken too long, so rather than drag this out and potentially lose the Frenchman because the club are tight, they need to give him a good amount that is tempting enough to sign.
