Signed, sealed and announced as Arsenal officially confirm striker deal done and dusted

Arsenal have confirmed exciting striker Eddie Nketiah has joined Leeds on-loan for the next 12 months.

The England Under-21 international has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners and has scored three times since making his debut in the Europa League clash against BATE Borisov in 2017.

He scored in Arsenal’s final day 3-1 win at Burnley last season but is yet to start in the Premier League and was on the bench for the 4-1 Europa League final defeat to Chelsea in May.

But after an impressive pre-season for the Gunners, there was some rumours that he could have been a big player in Unai Emery’s side this coming season as the Spanish boss was keen to add depth to his already impressive attack.

But after breaking the club record to sign Nicolas Pepe for £72 million, the Gunners decided that sending Nketiah out on loan for the next 12 months with Leeds was the best thing for his development in the game.

Arsenalsaid on their official website: ‘Everyone at Arsenal wishes Eddie all the best for his season with Leeds United and we look forward to seeing his continued development.’

Nketiah becomes the club’s sixth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Jack Clarke, Helder Costa, Jack Harrison and Illan Meslier and Ben White and will compete with Patrick Bamford for the main striker role.
