Arsenal interested in signing double La Liga star after confirmed exit

ARSENAL have once again been linked with a move for Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard.

Hazard joined for £89m in 2019 but has played just 54 league games, including only six this season.

The 32-year-old was under contract until June 2024 but on Real have “reached an agreement” to end the deal even before the summer transfer window had actually opened.

The club said it expressed its “affection” to former Chelsea forward Hazard and wished him “the best of luck for the next stage of his career”.

During his injury-hit time in the Spanish capital, the Belgium international won the Champions League, a Club World Cup, a European Super Cup, two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups.

But with his imminent departure from the club – there has been speculation that The Gunners are interested in offering him a short-term deal to make the move to the Emirates.

However – having played for Chelsea for so long, and his injury issues – it is difficult seeing Arsenal offering him the kind of deal that he would like at this stage of his career.

And reports have even suggested that may now decide to retire from the game – That’s according to host of the Spanish Football Podcast, Phil Kitromilides

“They’re saying he might retire, they’re saying that might be it for Eden Hazard, who joined Real as one of the best players in the world and his career has just fallen off a cliff,” Kitromilides said on TalkSport

“There’s a real suggestion that Eden Hazard is going to retire, he’s not going to go anywhere else.

“There was notions that a team in MLS – from Vancouver I think it was – were potentially interested in him.

“But really, I’m not sure what Eden Hazard would want.”
