Arsenal made late move to sign £48M ‘dream signing’ – Arteta made summer decision instead

ARSENAL made a ‘late attempt’ to move for Athletic Bilbao forward Nico Williams during the transfer window, but chose not to pursue a deal yet as they decided to stick out until the summer.

Nico Williams is one of the most talked about wingers in the game right now and is a player that have been linked with some of the games biggest clubs because of that £53 million release clause.

ARSENAL have been linked with a move to the Emirates for the past few weeks as it has been claimed on numerous occasions that Mikel Arteta is a massive fan of the Spanish star and is ready to pay big money to get a deal done.

Interest from Arsenal over a deal for Williams has dyed down towards the end of the summer transfer window as Williams’ apparent preference to stay in Spain, but according to rumours – the Gunners made a move to sign Williams during the end of the transfer window

The report states that Arteta is keen to strengthen his squad in three key areas: a midfielder, a wide forward and a physical striker, but Arsenal chose to keep their powder dry and wait till the summer for what could be a significant transfer window for them

‘Nico Williams is a brilliant attacker that would be a brilliant addition to that Gunners side and to be honest – we believe that ARSENAL would would have got a game-changing player that could have made a real difference.

‘Arsenal have so many quality players, they will challenge for trophies, but not adding another player to that attack for the rest of the season could cost them that silverware they really want.

‘Liverpool have Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez to come off the bench, they have so many options, the Gunners dont have that depth and quality just yet.

‘The January window could have sent a message to Liverpool for Arsenal, but once again, the Gunners didnt make moves.’
