Arsenal make £60 million transfer decision, stunning Liverpool claim made, pundits on Ozil, Arteta and Auba future (Video)

Here is a roundup of the latest Arsenal news from

Reports have claimed Arsenal have now decided NOT to make a move for Thomas Lemar this month.

Ex-Gunners boss Unai Emery went and spent a massive £72 million to acquire the services of Nicolas Pepe during the summer window, believing he had the ability to be a star at the Emirates, but that move has not worked out and the Gunners have now reportedly eyed up a possible move for Lemar.

The Gunners have previously been linked with Lemar, and he is a target this time around as Mikel Arteta wants to add a midfielder to his squad this month.

Atleti have already begun working with agents to secure the 24-year-old a move away from Madrid, with Spanish publication MARCA claiming that the Spanish giants have already received an offer from the Gunners about a possible January deal for the winger.

And amid the transfer speculation surrounding his future, Lemar posted a cryptic message on the social media platform, stating: “The days follow each other are not alike,” wrote Lemar.

“However, I learned that no matter what your day is made of, the main thing is to keep smiling and stay positive happy smile newyear.”

But GOAL now claim Arsenal are not planning on trying to sign the winger this month because Mikel Arteta feels he has enough options out wide.

Danny Murphy reckons Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka would be great for Liverpool.

Xhaka’s substitution during the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace last month was greeted by sarcastic cheers and the Gunners captain responded by throwing his arms in the air and cupping his ears and the 27-year-old was then seen mouthing ‘f*** off’ at the home fans before he removed his shirt and stormed down the tunnel.

And that has led to alot of headlines in the media calling for him to get the boot, for him to be dropped from the Arsenal side, and for him to just removed from the club for the disrespect that he showed towards the Gunners fans.

And Xhaka is keen to return to the Bundesliga and has agreed a deal in principle with Hertha, although the German club have not yet reached an agreement with Arsenal.

Bccording to the former England ace, Xhaka has the technical ability to play for a top team but is a ‘passenger’ defensively and is not suited to how the Gunners play.

He said on talkSPORT: “If Xhaka was in Liverpool’s side with Henderson and Fabinho, he would look a hell of a player because he is technically good, a good passer, has a great shot on him and he has the ability with his great left foot to open you up.

“But when you are playing in a team that is struggling a bit, he is a passenger defensively and a liability.

“It is a dilemma for Mikel Arteta because he has a squad that needs a bit of tinkering.”

Pundits have given their opinion on the news surrounding Arsenal over the past few weeks.

It has been a very difficult season for the Arsenal so far this season, as there has been a lot of criticism, a lot of transfer speculation and even a change in boss after Unai Emery got the sack just a few weeks ago.

And Sky Sports pundits Jamie O’Hara, Paul Merson and Cinton Morrison have all had their say on the likes of Mikel Arteta since his move to London, the future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the improvement made by German Mesut Ozil.
