‘Fantastic’ Martial! Arsenal legend tells Emery to sign £80m rated Man United star

Arsenal legend Lauren says his former club should look to sign Anthony Martial from Premier League rivals Manchester United in the coming transfer windows.
Martial has had another frustrating season at Old Trafford under the guidance of Jose Mourinho, and has once again found himself in and out of the squad as the special ones hands Alexis Sanchez and Marcus Rashford some much needed game time.
But despite his inconsistent performances, the 22-year-old has scored seven goals in 16 games this season, and is starting to show the kind of form which prompted United to splash over £50 million to acquire his services as a teenager.
However, he is still tipped to leave United at the end of the season as he simply cannot get on with Mourinho, and is reportedly stalling on a new contract to see which clubs come calling at the end of the season.
And Lauren believes Gunners boss Unai Emery should move for Martial if he does not extend his deal.
‘If Martial doesn’t renew his contract at Man Utd, Arsenal would be crazy not to try and snap him up,’ the former Cameroon defender told Sporting Bet.
‘He’s a fantastic player and is starting to show what he can really do when given a good run of games.
‘Martial won’t go anywhere without being guaranteed first team football, which I think he would get at Arsenal.’
Although United’s preference would be to keep hold of Martial for the next few years, it is also believed they would be willing to do business if Arsenal, or any other chasing club, managed to meet the £80 million price United are asking for.
Would Martial be a good buy for Emery at Arsenal?
Martial has great pace and great goal-scoring ability, but he is just playing under a manager that likes to play on the counter-attack and expects his attack to do a lot of defending, which is not Martials strengths.
Emery likes to play attacking, high-pressure football and although he already has two great strikers at the club, adding the versatile Martial to the line-up could be a smart move for the Spaniard.
However, Martial is not worth £80 million, not yet.
