Destination Man United? Arsenal slated on stunning Aaron Ramsey transfer decision

Former Wales striker Dean Saunders can’t believe Arsenal are allowing a player of Aaron Ramsey’s quality to go for nothing, with Manchester United linked with a move.

Ramsey was named the clubs player of the season last year and many expected his contract situation to be wrapped up long before the new Premier League season started, especially since the player and his boss Unai Emery both admitted they were hopeful a deal could be struck.

However, after months of talks and rumours about the kind of money Ramsey wants, reports have emerged today which have claimed Arsenal have bow decided to end all contract talks with the Welshman and have decided that he is free to leave when the season is up.

And that has alerted United, Chelsea and Liverpool to a possible transfer deal, with the Premier League trio reportedly ready to give him around £300,000-a-week.

“I can’t understand it,” Saunders told Jim White.

“He’s been at Arsenal for ten years and they’ve let his contract run down. And it’s not just him, it happened with Ozil and it happened with Sanchez.

“Once the players can see the finishing line on their contract, you’ve lost all control as a club.

“They managed to keep hold of Ozil, but it has cost them an absolute fortune, and now this is what happens, the players are knocking on the door saying: ‘If he’s getting that, what are you going to give me?’ The bar has gone up.

“It’s a game of poker now, but Arsenal have lost the power. Ramsey and his agent have got the power now, because he can just let his contract run out and leave for nothing.”

Here is what we think on the Ramsey decision by Arsenal.

Ramsey is a top class player that has done a great job over the years for Arsenal, but if Mesut Ozil didnt deserve £350,000-a-week then Ramsey does not either as only the superstar’s of football can command such a wage.

So the decision to let him leave could be a great one, especially since he has not been the player he was a few seasons ago.
