Skriniar hijacking, Auba to help get Dembele signed, impressive Torreira, Arnautovic message in Arsenal, Man United Thursday
Here is todays Arsenal and Manchester United headlines, news and transfer gossip.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has reportedly ordered the January signing of Manchester United target Milan Skriniar, for a fee of £75 million.
With possible sanctions against Chelsea just around the corner due to their transfer activity of young players, Sarri is keener than ever to get some transfer business done in the January window as he looks to build a side that is capable of winning both the Premier League and Champions League crowns.
He already has a world class midfield and a decent stopper, but his defence and strike-force are both missing that special player that would make them serious title contenders this season, as the likes of David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger could mess up at anytime, while Alvaro Morata and Oliier Giroud have only managed seven goals between them this season.
And the Sun website has claimed Sarri ‘is not satisfied’ with his back-line and has ordered the club to delve into their transfer kitty to acquire the services of Skriniar from Inter Milan, and in turn, beat off United in the process.
It is no secret United boss Jose Mourinho is also looking to do a deal for Skriniar in the January transfer window and has put Skriniar high up on the shopping list after being impressed with the Milan star over the last few months.
Skriniar is in his second season with Inter after he was signed from Sampdoria for £15.8m last year, but is reportedly frustrated at the fact Milan will not meet his wage demands and could push for a move away if a deal is not sorted out soon. (Read more here)
Reports have emerged which have claimed Unai Emery will use Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to convince Ousmane Dembele to sign for Arsenal in the coming transfer windows.
Despite being regarded as one of the most exciting and talented wingers in Europe, the 21-year old Frenchman has failed to make the impact at Barcelona that many expected when he completed his £97 million move to the Camp Nou last summer, having been plagued by injuries.
His performances for the Spaniards has somewhat picked up this season and he was starting to show the kind of potential which prompted Barcelona to splash out big money, but He has regularly turned up late to training and now Barca are believed to be open to selling him, with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United just a few clubs linked with a move.
The two became extremely close on and off the pitch during their season together at Borussia Dortmund, with Dembele assisting Aubameyang with 10 goals in the Bundesliga alone. (Read more here)
Arsenal assistant head coach Steve Bould has heaped praise on summer signing Lucas Torreira.
After months of speculation and weeks of talks, the 22-year-old arrived from Serie A side Sampdoria in a £26.5million deal after the World Cup, as Unai Emery looked to solve his defensive issues at the club.
And despite being held back by Emery in the opening weekends of the season, Torreira has quickly made a massive impression with his energetic and tenacious displays in the centre of midfield.
Torreira has even managed to make Granit Xhaka look like a solid player, and Bould has been hugely impressed with his impact at Arsenal.
Asked if Torreira has helped Xhaka, Bould told Arsenal’s official website: ‘Yeah. They look like they could be a good partnership, especially with Torreira.
‘Torreira looks like he’s always played here. He’s just a great kid and nothing bothers him, he’s always got a smile on his face every day.
‘He does enjoy it, but he’s much, much more than that.
‘He’s just one of those players that will do everything you ask, won’t question it and you know that he’ll do it to the best of his ability.’ (Read more here)
Manuel Pellegrini insists Chelsea and Manchester United target Marko Arnautovic is only focused on performing for West Ham.
Since being turned into a striker at the Hammers, Arnautovic has shown some great goal-scoring qualities up top and already has five goals to his name this season.
His pace, power and ability to lead the line has attracted interest from both Jose Mourinho and Maurizio Sarri over the last few weeks, especially since Arnautovic announced that he is now keen to play Champions League football at a big club.
But amidst all the speculation surrounding his star man, Pellegrini does not want to lose Arnautovic and has admitted that the striker is fully focused on doing a job for the Hammers.
‘He is a West Ham player because he has a contract here, he is happy here,’ said the Chilean coach on the Sky Sports website.
‘Every player always wants to play in the biggest team but I don’t think that Marko is thinking about that.
‘He is thinking about West Ham and he tries to make his best performance in every game.’
