Ozil finished at Arsenal? Gunners legend leaves Man United on alert after stunning claim

Paul Merson has claimed Mesut Ozil could be finished at Arsenal, after the Gunners stunning performance against Tottenham at the weekend.

Despite many believing that Spurs were the better team heading into the London Derby, Unai Emery’s men showed their Premier League title credentials after making it no losses in the last nineteen matches.

A hard-fought, high pressure and high-tempo Derby finished 4-2 to Arsenal and showed many in the Premier League just how Emery intends to play over the next few seasons, and the Gunners strong performance could be the end for Ozil.

Ozil has been heavily criticised for his lack of defensive work for the Gunners, with many in the media claiming that he should be dropped by Emery, and Merson has claimed if Arsenal want to continue how they did against Tottenham, Ozil doesn’t fit the plans.

Merson said on the Sky Sports website: “I’m a big fan of Ozil but if Arsenal are going to play like they did against Spurs, work like that as a team and close down, you can’t have one not buying into it.

“It doesn’t matter how good you are because everybody has got to be singing off the same hymn sheet, and I don’t see that with him.”

Is Ozil done at the Emirates?

On his day, Ozil can be one of the best creative players in the Premier League and also one of the most devastating in the final third, but his problem is that he is lazy going the other way.

Ozil has a particular style of play, that many managers become frustrated with, and Emery has a different style of play that he hoped will bring success back to Arsenal, so that is why they look like a better side when Ozil is not playing.

Ozil is on his way down in the game, so not it is time for Arsenal to cash in.
