German announces talks as much talked about defender talks possible Arsena transfer deal

Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi feels the next move could be the most important of his career as he looks to “write a positive chapter again”.

Despite having one of the best attacks in Europe right now and the fact that Unai Emery has seen his side reach the Europa League final, there has been a lot of criticism about the Gunners defence after they failed to get back inside the top four this season.

And though Mustafi, 27, has been a mainstay in Unai Emery’s side this season, a number of costly errors have cast serious doubt over the defender’s future as many believe that he is one of the main reasons why they conceded 51 goals in the Premier League.

A move to AC Milan looked to be on the cards for Mustafi during the summer transfer window as the Italians were keen on a deal, but a number of factors meant that Mustafi was to stay at the Emirates and play a big part in the Gunners season under Emery.

But after a poor start to the new season for the German, he has once again been linked with a move away from London during the January transfer window as Emery looks to ofload some deadweight and add some much needed quality to the back-line.

And Mustafi has fuelled speculation that he is ready to leave after admitting that his next move could be the most important of his career so far, he told Der Spiegel: “There were talks about leaving the club in the summer, but there was no option that suited everyone. Arsenal had some demands too,”

“The next move is extremely important for me to be able to write a positive chapter again. If I move to the wrong place now then the situation may not improve at all. In the future I am open to offers, from the Bundesliga as well.”

Mustafi is a Gunners player and many fans will still love him for putting on that Arsenal shirt on a weekly basis, but the facts don’t lie and he has been pretty awful since his mega money move to the premier League just a few seasons ago.

The best thing for him, and Arsenal is, to get a January deal done as his time at the Emirates has come to an end and its time for a fresh start.
