Arsenal to sign up striker, Mourinho makes stunning claim, Aubameyang sends Arsenal mate Pepe message
Here is a roundup of the latest Arsenal news from icfootballnews.
Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has admitted that he was happy to play in a different position to accommodate former Nice player Nicolas Pepe.
The Gunners did quite a bit of transfer business in the summer as Unai Emery finally convinced the clubs hierarchy to part ways with their cash and acquire a number of players to help the side get back playing for the Champions League and challenging for titles.
But no one cost more that club-record signing Pepe, who became one of the most sought after players of the transfer window after netting an impressive 23-goals last season, alerting the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool to his clear potential.
He is currently trying to get fit after missing the opening Premier League win against Newcastle at the weekend, and Aubameyang has admitted that he is willing to play in a different position to accommodate Pepe in the side.
“I have watched him and I know how he plays. We have tried to connect with him in training. For the moment it is going very good,” he said
“We are happy because we know he can help us reach our goals, so it is another weapon for us and that is very good.
“When I play as the striker I am happy but if the team needs help and I play wide, then I will do it.”
“Everybody is excited about [us playing together]. We will have time to play together and we will see. I am looking forward to it,” Aubameyang added.
“The next game we play at home and we will see what is the coach’s decision. It will be difficult for him to fit us all in but that’s the game.”

Jose Mourinho has questioned the Arsenal deal for Dani Ceballos, who they acquired on-loan from Real Madrid during the summer window.
After a summer of frustration and anger from most fans, the Gunners finally managed to secure a transfer deal for a number of players, with the likes of William Saliba, Nicolas Pepe, David Luiz and Kieran Tierney all following Ceballos to the Emirates.
Ceballos was signed by the Spaniard as a replacement for the now departed Aaron Ramsey, who agreed a smart move to sign for Italian Champions Juventus, as Emery admitted that he needs ‘hungry’ players like the Spaniard in his squad.
“Ceballos’ mind is very strong,” Emery recently said of the six-cap Spain international.
“His mentality. Last Sunday, when he received a big kick on his ankle I thought ‘oh, it’s broken’.
“But after, on Monday, he was training – (he said) ‘I’m fine and want to train’. He is showing us every day his ambition, his hunger is big. I think we need players like this.”
However, Mourinho has come out and stated that Ceballos did not need to be signed by Emery, as they already have a number of players like the Spaniard in the Gunners squad.
“Ceballos, I think they have other Ceballos’ in the squad,” Mourinho said on the Daily Express.
“He’s a good player but I think they have other Ceballos’.
“When I see [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan, [Mesut] Ozil, Ceballos, they can play in different positions on the pitch and very similar characteristics.”
