Luiz has great Gunners transfer message, Arsenal fans told to get £40m deal done, Fans told most important Arsenal player
Here is a roundup of the latest Arsenal news from icfootballnews.
New Arsenal signing David Luiz has claimed that Edu is the perfect man to lure players to the Emirates.
Luiz was the last signing of the summer transfer window for boss Unai Emery, after the Spanish boss made a last-ditched attempt to acquire the services of the Brazilian after making a cheeky £8 million offer to Chelsea, which the Blues quickly accepted.
Left-back Kieran Tierney and centre-half William Saliba cost just over £50m collectively, while midfielder Dani Ceballos also joined on loan from Real Madrid, and obviously Nicolas pepe was the biggest signing of the summer, costing the Gunners a mammoth £72 million.
Gabriel Martinelli was Arsenal’s first summer recruit, and Edu had a big part to play in that as he immediately brought the 18-year-old Brazilian to the club from Ituano for £5m, and Luiz, who has been hailed a summer bargain, and he has spoken out on how Edu is helping to attract players to Arsenal.
“Edu was a great player, a very talented player – someone who everyone enjoyed watching play,” David Luiz told Arsenal’s official website .
“He was a great guy, a great person and he is ready for this role because he’s intelligent.
“He knows how to be with people, he knows how to win things, he is a winner and he is going to try to improve the club.
“I think around the world people are attracted to good players, especially Brazilian players.”
Nigel Winterburn has claimed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be Arsenal’s most important player this season.
Signed by legendary boss Arsene Wenger just before he quit the club, Aubameyang has fast become a real folk hero at the Emirates and impressed in his first full season in the Premier League by netting an impressive 31-goals for the Gunners last season.
His impressive performances and goals could not help the club get back inside the top four or pick up some silverware, but with boss Unai Emery doing some great transfer business, the Gunners side looks more of a threat then they did 12 months ago.
But despite the new signings, Winterburn claimed Aubameyang would be Arsenal’s ‘most important’ player during the 2019-20 campaign.
He told sportingbet:
‘Without a shadow of a doubt, Aubameyang will be Arsenal’s most important player this season.
‘You saw from the Newcastle game, he had very few opportunities to score but the one real opportunity that he got, his composure and finishing was perfect. If he stays fit, he’s going to have a huge season again for Arsenal, and will certainly be challenging for the Golden Boot again.
‘It gives the team a huge lift when you know you’ve got a goal-scorer in your team. He is similar to Ian Wright in that sense.
‘As a team, we knew that if you can keep a clean sheet, then Wrighty will usually pop up with a goal. Aubameyang is looking like that at the moment for this current side, which is great for the club.’
Gunners legend Nigel Winterburn has told Unai Emery to get rid of former Manchester United star Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Spanish boss has transformed the feeling around the club with a number of exciting and talented signings during the summer transfer window, but he still has some work to do with some of the players that were already at the club.
Armenia international Mkhitaryan has endured a mixed spell at the Emirates since being involved in a swap deal with Alexis Sanchez from Manchester United last year, as the 30-year-old has struggled to perform consistently for the Gunners.
But despite the fact he has been unimpressive in Arsenal shirt, he managed to get a starting spot in the opening Premier League fixture for the Gunners last weekend, although his performance was once again not that impressive.
And Winterburn believes Mkhitaryan will drop out of first-team contention once key players return and says his former club should sanction his departure this month.
He told sportingbet: ‘Arsenal should look to sell Mkhitaryan to a European team this transfer window.
‘When everyone is back fit for Arsenal, Mkhitaryan is going to struggle to get any game time at all during the season.
‘Mkhitaryan looks a frustrated figure, nothing seems to be working out for him on the pitch – his passes are misplaced, his shooting is off and he can’t beat his man.
‘His performance against Newcastle on the opening game of the season wasn’t good enough, especially when you’re playing at the highest level.
‘No doubt, Mkhitaryan is a talented player but he’s going to struggle to hold down a regular position when everybody’s fit.’
