Meunier on possible Arsenal move, Bent makes Guendouzi claim, Emery admits World Cup winner to be a Gunner (Video), Legend wants Prem midfielder at Arsenal
Here is a roundup of the latest Arsenal news and gossip from icfootballnews.
Arsenal target Thomas Meunier has claimed that he did not receive a suitable offer to leave PSG during the summer transfer window.
Arsenal were looking at a number of possible transfer targets during the summer transfer window to come in and help improve the back-line, and the bargain priced Meunier was on the shopping list of the Premier League giants.
It was believed that he was fed up at PSG and was seeking a move away from the French giants in order to get some more game time, but in the end he decided to stay in Paris and the Gunners ultimately turned their transfer attentions elsewhere.
And now the 27-year-old has claimed that he failed to receive an adequate offer to leave PSG and that is why he stayed put.
‘It was an intense period, with a lot of interest and discussion,’ Meunier told RTBF.
‘I could have left but it was not done because there was nothing that suited the club or myself. Nothing was 100 per cent for it to work.
‘I have always said that I wanted to stay in Paris.
‘I still have one year on my contract and I still hope an extension can be secured.
‘The situation is a little more complicated because I am no longer the preferred choice in my position, but I remain professional.
‘I feel good there and we will see what happens during the season.
Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent has claimed Mateo Guendouzi could be at the centre of the clubs success for the next ten years.
Guendouzi was signed by Unai Emery last summer in a move that surprised many fans, especially the ones who never heard of him before his move to the Emirates, but since his move to England he has become one of the most influential midfielders at the club.
His performances have earned him his first call-up to the senior France team during this international break and especially attracted plaudits after his display in the north London derby last weekend
And Bent has been impressed with his influence and desire to control play at such a young age, telling the Football Insider: ‘He’s playing like he’s someone who’s played for Arsenal for years.
‘It’s scary that he’s only 20, he could be in the Arsenal midfield for the next 10 years, he’s really good in that role.
‘Even when he gives the ball away, he wants the ball all the time. ‘He never shies away from that and that is a trait in a midfielder that you can’t teach, you can’t teach that.’

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has claimed that Unai Emery should have made a summer move for former Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph.
Arsenal decided to not hand Aaron Ramsey a new contract last season, meaning that the Welshman was free to depart the club and make a move to Italian giants Juventus, which left the club short of midfielders in the side.
And there was some speculation in the media suggesting that the Gunners could make a move for Delph during the transfer window, as the midfielder was surplus-to-requirements at the Etihad and was able to leave the Premier League Champions for just £8 million.
It is seen as a massive bargain for the Merseyside club, with the England International regarded as one of the finest passers in the Premier League, and although the Gunners did seal a deal for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, many are wondering just why a move for Delph was not made.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ The Debate, Merson also questioned why Arsenal didn’t make a move for him.
“I look at him and wonder why Arsenal didn’t sign him,” Merson said.
“He is better than the midfield three that played against Tottenham.
“He could have played at left back instead of Kolasinac on Sunday.
“I am a big fan of Delph. He can play in certain positions and is an excellent signing for Everton.”
