Agent on possible Arsenal deal for £35 million star, Lacazette stuns fans with message, £80m star reacts to Gunners talk
Here is a roundup of the latest Arsenal news from icfootballnews.
Arsenal transfer target Wilfried Zaha has taken to social media to break his silence on transfer speculation regarding his future.
Zaha has become one of the most talked about players of the transfer window, as his performances for Palace over the last 12 months have alerted the top clubs to his clear potential.
But Arsenal have emerged as the front-runners to complete a deal for Zaha, as reports in the media have claimed that Unai Emery is desperate to add some width to the squad this summer and add something different to his attack.
The Gunners are financially hamstrung and would appear to have minimal chance of matching Palace’s £80m valuation of their man this summer, despite the wingers preference to leave the club and play at the very highest level of the game.
But the man himself has added fuel to the fire of speculation by posting on his official Twitter account, stating:
“Whatever happened to speaking facts?.
“It’s sad and annoying how anyone will just open their mouth and speak on things or situations they know absolutely nothing about.”
Allan Preston, part of the Stellar Group that represents Kieran Tierney, has given Arsenal hope that they can complete a transfer deal for the Celtic star this transfer window.
With Unai Emery seeking to bolster his squad this summer with the kind of transfer budget that a Championship side may have, there has been about of transfer speculation about whom he could bring in over the next few months.
And one name that has been linked with a possible move to the Emirates is that of Tierney, the Celtic star that has reportedly impressed the Spanish boss over the course of the last 12 months.
It is believed that Arsenal have already had a £15 million offer rejected by the Scottish side, as they seek to get around £35 million for their rising star, a fee that is starting to put off Arsenal.
But as speculation about a possible dies down in the media, Preston has handed Arsenal a boost in their chase to sign the young man, telling the BBC Sport website: ‘It is all down to Celtic – if they get a price that they believe is the correct value for Kieran Tierney he could possibly be on his way.
‘No one has hit that price yet. ‘I know Kieran really well, I had some food with him the other day. ‘He is such an unassuming young man. He is wealthy at the moment but he doesn’t possess a watch because he isn’t into material things like this.
‘He still hangs about with his pals from when he was a youngster, he sponsors his local pub team where his pals play and he’s not into his designer gear or anything like that. As the guys say, he loves Celtic. He absolutely loves Celtic. Will there be a time for Kieran Tierney to go? I think that there will be.
‘If it’s just now it will be up to the clubs that are involved – Arsenal, Napoli or whoever – to then put the money on the table and make Celtic think about this. ‘If there is a time for Kieran to go it will be up to Celtic, Peter Lawwell and the board.’
Alexandre Lacazette has told Arsenal fans to forget about winning titles in the near future and instead to focus on finishing in the top four consistently.
Arsenal failed to get back inside the top four spot in the Premier League this season and missed out on Champions League football for another season, but as were now in silly season, there has been some speculation in the media which have claimed Arsenal are looking to build a side that would win titles in the coming months.
Unai Emery has been eyeing up a number of possible transfer deals this summer, and although he reportedly only has a small transfer kitty, there are expected to be a few signings in the coming weeks.
But Lacazette, who netted 13 teams in the league last season, forming a formidable partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has warned the fans that the club just need to focus on getting back inside the top four this season.
“A club like Arsenal has to be playing in the Champions League every season,” Lacazette told FourFourTwo.
“We will start to think to think about winning the biggest titles in a few seasons, but first we need to make sure we are in the Champions League consistently again. It’s been positive. We had a new coach with a new approach, and I think I’ve played well – better than in the previous season.
“And we’ve played bigger, more important games.”
