Emery sends Arsenal men to complete £36 million deal, Gunners to make French move, Emery has transfer message for Arsenal fans
Here is a roundup of the latest Arsenal news and gossip from icfootballnews.
Reports have claimed Arsenal boss Unai Emery has reportedly sent representatives to Brazil to conduct a medical on transfer target Everton Soares, ahead of a proposed £36m move to the Emirates Stadium.
The 23-year-old is hot property after scoring three goals to help Brazil to the Copa America title, winning the Golden Boot in the process, with Gunners boss Unai Emery now showing a keen interest in a deal.
He claims to have an offer to quit Gremio amid speculation Arsenal have made an approach for his signature, and according to UOL Esporte, the Gunners opened talks with Everton during the Copa America, which concluded last weekend as Brazil beat Peru in the final.
Everton has now broken his silence on the transfer speculation. He recently said on UOL: ‘Right now I have an offer on the plate, but I can’t say the name of the club in question.
‘Just as I cannot promise that I will be here again on Thursday to play against Bahia. We’ll see.’
Now according Brazilian journalist Sergio Araujo (Via the Daily Express), Arsenal have sent medical staff to Brazil in order to assess the physical condition of transfer target Everton,
Arsenal have been linked with a summer move for Nabil Fekir, who is all set to leave the French Champions this summer window.
Arsenal have done very little transfer business over the course of this transfer window, but Unai Emery is expected to delve into his transfer kitty in the coming weeks to finally start improving key areas of the pitch.
And one man that has been linked with a possible move to the Emirates, is that of Fekir, the French International whom almost made the move to Liverpool last summer transfer window.
The France international required two operations on his right knee inside the space of a year due to a cruciate ligament rupture and that made Liverpool walk away from the deal, but the 25-year-old has made 39 appearances in all competitions for Lyon this season, scoring 12 goals and registering nine assists and both United and Liverpool have kept a key interest.
But with just one-year remaining on his current deal with the French giants, Juninho has revealed that the powerful midfielder has indicated once again that he would like to make a move away from the club this summer, with L’Equipe suggesting that Arsenal are interested in a deal.
Juninho recently said: “Honestly, I think it’s going to be difficult to convince him to continue. His generation has gone away.
“It’s not a closed matter but I’m telling you the truth. We would like to keep him. For the moment, the only conceivable departure is his. As long as he does not leave, we will work with him as if he were going to stay.
“It’s up to him to think about it, to make a decision with his family. But the possibility that he leaves is a reality.”
The Gunners are one of the biggest clubs in the game and need to get some transfer deals done, and they are in need of adding some goals and creativity to the squad.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery insists the club are targeting “very big, very expensive” deals in the transfer market, despite the clubs lack of transfer dealings this summer.
After finishing the season outside the top four spots and ending the season without any silverware, Emery was expected to get a lot of transfer dealings done ahead of the new season.
But Arsenal have only signed 18-year-old winger Gabriel Martinelli so far this summer, with most of the transfer talk just rumours about whom Emery would like to sign over the next few weeks, with the likes of Wilfred Zaha, William Saliba and Real Madrid midfielder Dani Cabellos all linked with the club.
However, Emery has come out and told Gunners fans that the club are still looking at big and expensive deals, telling the Sky Sports website.: “Our target is to achieve three, four players to really improve our team and squad now,” Emery said ahead of Arsenal’s pre-season game against Bayern Munich.
“We are being very demanding and we are also first speaking about the possibility to sign very big players, very expensive.
“The first player in our list is the first target and after, if we cannot have that then [we try to sign] the second, but thinking every time that they are going to improve our team.”
