Mikel Arteta told to let exciting Arsenal star leave in January transfer window

Kevin Campbell says Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah needs to go out on loan to get more consistent playing time and build his confidence.

Nketiah is regarded as one of the finest talents in the Premier League and has become a big part of the plans that Mikel Arteta has to take the club forward in the coming seasons.

But since coming back to north London, the England youth international has battled with Alexandre Lacazette for the No.9 role, has has lost out to the Frenchman as Mikel Arteta looks to go with experience over excitement.

Now Gunners hero Campbell believes the striker would benefit from a loan spell at another Premier League club, where he can get used to the rough and tumble of England’s top flight: ‘Nketiah has a knack for goals but I think Nketiah needs to go out on loan for another season, playing back-to- back games to get that confidence in his own body,’ Campbell told Football Insider.

‘Coming off the bench and playing sparingly is okay but there is nothing better than getting a run of starts to understand that you can do it at the top level

‘You have got to go through the tough parts. You need to get kicked, feel the pain and the soreness. That is what he needs to do.’

There is no doubt that the lad is showing great potential and many Arsenal fans are excited about his future, but sitting on the bench every week and getting a few minutes here and there is not the way to go, the lad is not developing like he should be.

If he is not going to get the game time that he needs, then yes send him out on loan, but it will just be interesting to see what Arteta does.
