Atletico make world class Arsenal target ‘available’ for Arteta to sign!
Atletico Madrid are open to offers for Thomas Lemar during the summer transfer window – which has opened the door for Arsenal to make a move
This current Arsenal side failed to pick up any trophies last season and failed to get back into that Champions League spots – meaning that money will need to be spent
Mikel Arteta has already brought in stopper Matt Turner -Midfielder Fabio Vieira and winger Marquinhos – but he is keen to carry on trying to sign players that will make a real difference
And now it seems that one of the clubs long-term targets will be available for transfer – as Madrid have decided that they will cash in on Frenchman Thomas Lemar
The 26-year-old winger has been in the Spanish capital since making a €72 million (£62m/$76m) move from Monaco in 2018 and has been a relatively important member of the squad on a weekly basis
But Goal have claimed Balancing the books has become a top priority for the Spaniards, with work needing to be done in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations – and Lemar is a saleable asset and one who is now available after turning down the offer of a new contract on reduced terms.
Atletico are aware they are not going to get their money back on the Frenchman, but are looking to make as much as possible as his current contract ticks down towards 2023
However – it is believed that they are hoping that a fee of around the £20 million mark will still be what Lemar is worth
Lemar is a player that Arsenal have wanted for some time – and many believed that they would not get the chance to try and sign him as he has been happy in Spanish football
So the news that he may now be on the market – well – that will surely prompt the Gunners to make a cheeky offer?
Lemar is out of contract next summer – so a possible bargain is on the cards
