New Arsenal signing Omar Rekik has opened up and told the Gunners fans ‘that he is a winner’
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta may have got the backing from the board over the transfer window, which allowed him to sign players like Gabriel and Thomas Partey, while also be able to keep hold of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but he has more work to do in this transfer window
Arsenal have had one of the worst starts to a new season in their history, and there is alot of speculation flying around that Arteta is edging closer to that exit signs, But it seems that the club will allow him to do more transfer business.
After months of speculation, the Arsenal board finally managed to wrap up a deal for the very talented defender Omar Rekik, who has been linked with the club ever since the early stages of the summer transfer window.
He will join up with the under-23’s and is firmly seen as one for the future, and after agreeing his move to London, Rekik has opened up and told the Gunners fans just what they can expect from him.
HE TOLD THE ARSENAL WEBSITE: “I’m a winner. I always want to win, and that’s with everything, not only football, ever since I was a kid.
“My style of play? I’m a central defender and I like to play with the ball, I like to play out from the back, and I think this is also the structure of the club. It fits perfectly.
“Of course! With Mikel Arteta, if you watch the games, he’s not a coach who thinks quickly to play a long ball. Of course, when needed, you have to do it, but I think the style of play fits.
“Of course. As a young player, you need to play somewhere where they’re not afraid to give you a chance and you can see a lot of youth players have broken through here, and I want to be the next one.”
Wilfried Zaha has accepted that Arsenal chose Nicolas Pepe ‘over him’ following a failed move to the club.
Regarded as one of the finest wingers in the Premier League, Zaha was heavily linked with a transfer move to the Emirates just a few seasons ago, as then current boss Unai Emery, was eager to bolster his attack.
But despite all the rumours, despite all the speculation and despite the talk that Zaha was keen on a move to the Emirates, the Arsenal board made the strange decision to break the club record and bring Nicolas Pepe to the Premier League after one good season in France.
Zaha has gone on to re-establish himself in the Premier League, while Pepe has failed to impress many at the Arsenal, and now, Zaha has opened up on his failed move to the Emirates, He told Jamie Carragher’s The Greatest Game Podcast: “I had a conversation with the manager actually.
“[Unai] Emery was just like, ‘We don’t really need to go through much’. “He said he’d seen me play, he knows I can change games at any time and stuff like that.
“He was like, ‘Yeah we’d love to have you’ and I was just like, ‘Yeah I’d love to come’.
“The conversation was rather straightforward because I played against him when he was manager of Arsenal.
“He saw what I could do, saw my work-rate, and what I could add to the team.”
He added: “Obviously, it was up to the club who they chose.
“And they chose Pepe over me.”
Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi are both closing in on transfer moves away from the Arsenal this month.
Now we all know that Arsenal fans are getting excited about the possible players that will be making moves to the club over the next few weeks in order to give the side a much needed boost, but there are also alot of players linked with moves away from the club.
Mikel Arteta has a big squad and has alot of players that he no longer needs at the club, so before the Spaniard is able to bring in a few new faces to freshen up the squad, he is eager to offload the deadwood, with Sokratis and Mustafi two on that list.
32-year-old Sokratis’s contract at the Emirates Stadium expires in the summer and he is being lined up for a switch to Genoa this month, and reports on Sky Sport Italia report Sokratis wants to return to the Italian side, where he played between 2008 to 2010.
He has fallen well down the pecking order at the club and getting his £100,000-a-week wages off the bill will free up some much needed funds.
And the reports suggest that Genoa are also said to be keen on another Arsenal outcast – Mustafi – along with Olympiacos.
The German has made just three appearances in the Premier League this season and is free to leave after also falling down the pecking order at the club after failing to establish himself in the squad since his move from the Bundesliga.
Look, these two players have been welcomed by the Gunners fans and failed to make the grade, so the news that they are closing in on a move away from the club is some good business by the Arsenal.
Omar Rekik has opened up on how it feels to officially sign with the Arsenal after he agreed a move to the Emirates.
Rekik, who is the north London side’s first signing of the January transfer window, was linked with a move to the English capital in the summer transfer window, but a move did not materialise.
However, the Gunners maintained a strong interest in trying to get the very exciting lad all signed up this transfer window, and reports on BILD have suggested that the club paid just £540,000 to officially bring him to the club.
The 19-year-old will join the Gunners’ Under 23s side after penning a professional contract with the club, as he needs time to get used to the English game before eing handed come kind of chance in the first team.
HE TOLD THE ARSENAL WEBSITE: It feels great to be here after a long time of hard work. It feels great. I moved in three weeks ago and I’ve been in quarantine, so I can’t wait to get started.
The warmth of the people and the interest that they showed in me, and of course, when a club like Arsenal is interested, I don’t think anyone needs to think twice.
This is a massive move for the lad and one that hopefully turns out to be the making of him. Arsenal made sure that they were the club that secured a transfer deal for his services and seemingly have big hopes for the future.
So now that he is an actual Arsenal player, he needs to keep his head down, work hard and prove that he was worth the hassle because the English game is one of the hardest for talents to prove themselves.
But great for the lad and fans will welcome him nicely.
