ARSENAL have opened contract talks with Reiss Nelson, according to The Daily Mail.

Nelson’s contract expires at the end of the season, but he has made it clear that he wants to stay at the Emirates – and The Gunners have now opened negotiations, and there is a growing belief that an agreement can be reached soon.

Nelson scored the winning goal for the Gunners in the dying seconds of their match against Bournemouth on Saturday to keep that five point gap to Manchester City and looks set to be rewarded for his hard work this season.

Mikel Arteta reckons the weekends last-gasp matchwinner Nelson has now reached a “different level” – the Gunners boss Arteta said: “I always saw the potential, the talent and the desire for him to do it, but he’s at a different level right now.

“I think emotionally, the experiences that he had helped him.

“Football-wise, it was my decision in the last two games not to play him because we had other options.

“But he was knocking on the door, he’s been training really good and it’s a good lesson for me and for the coaches that we need him and that he can be really important for the team.”

Nelson wants to stay at ARSENAL – he wants to be part of the future at the club – but if he is happy to be a bench warmer and then come on when needed – then staying put is the right decision.

But if he wants to be a regular starter – wants to make it to that next level – then maybe the best thing would be to leave – there are some top class players at the club now and a few more expected in the summer.

But he wants to stay so, we are fully expecting a new deal to get wrapped up.

You see football is a funny game because some one who is a regular can be overtaken by a bench warmer so saying if agree to not be a regular he can be signed and contribute when call upon I disagree give minutes regularly and see him develop fast you must feature him and build his confident starting on Thursday feature him let Saka play central and Nelson on the right side he can interchange with Saka while Martinelli can as well interchange with Nelson that is how Wenger used to develop so many players if Saka can be scoring from the side he can also do it better from the middle do some experiment that what makes a great coach life itself is a gamble try something new and see how is going to be
