Gunners fans told Arsenal ‘were open’ to getting transfer deal done for £200k-a-week star
Pundit Chris Wheatley has claimed that Arsenal were very much open to the idea of letting powerhouse midfielder Thomas Partey leave the club over the course of the summer transfer window
Partey’s current deal is due to expire in 2025 and discussions over a possible extension at the Emirates did not happen over the summer as many believed that he would get that move away from the Premier League giants.
The Ghana international was limited in his starts for the club last season because of injury, and there were mane reports that Arsenal were deciding whether to cash in on the player in the summer or risk losing him on a free transfer in just over a year’s time.
It has been claimed in recent weeks that ARSENAL are now keen to tie Partey down to a new contract at Arsenal after a good start to the new Premier League season, but it could have been so different according to Wheatley
According to the journalist, the club had left the door open for the midfielder’s departure—they were ready to consider offers – Wheatley said on ShotsTV: “In the summer, I know that Arsenal were open to offers for Thomas Partey, and there were a few teams, especially in Turkey.
“Lots of agents were trying to get mandates to get the deal done for Partey. Arsenal were certainly open to letting him go in the summer.”
Based on Wheatley’s comments, I can’t help but think Arsenal were lucky Partey never left.

Partey has been a big part of that ARSENAL side this season, but that is because Martin Odegaard is injured and there is space in the side, when the midfielder is back, he will probably be dropped down to the bench once again.
Arsenal were open to selling the player in the summer window and will probably be open again to letting him leave in the summer too,
