Possible replacement? Behave! Gunners star Aubameyang sends Arsenal message to new summer signing
Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hopes to start alongside club-record signing Nicolas Pepe soon.
The Gunners did quite a bit of transfer business in the summer as Unai Emery finally convinced the clubs hierarchy to part ways with their cash and acquire a number of players to help the side get back playing for the Champions League and challenging for titles.
But no one cost more that club-record signing Pepe, who became one of the most sought after players of the transfer window after netting an impressive 23-goals last season, alerting the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool to his clear potential.
He is currently trying to get fit after missing the opening Premier League win against Newcastle at the weekend, but Auabameyang has admitted that he is actually looking forward to playing alongside the winger when he returns to full fitness.
“I’m looking forward to [playing with him], because he’s a really great player,” Aubameyang said.
“He’s already shown in training that he’s capable of doing great things with us.
“Hopefully he will start soon.”
There was a feeling in the media that Arsenal acquired the services of Aubameyang as a possible replacement for Aubameyang, who was linked with a move to the likes of United ort a big money move to China.
But despite the fact that Pepe is still unproven at the top of the game, many fans are excited to see Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and the Pepe all playing alongside each other on a regular basis.
The lad is just the type of skilful, pacey winger that Emery has been keen to add to his squad since he arrived at the club, and he can adjust to the qualities of the Premier League, he could be a great long-term investment.
So we are also excited to see just how he fits into the side alongside his two world class counterparts, as it may mean that Emery loses one of his defensively minded players from the starting line-up.
