Arteta free to make move? After Arsenal told £50M target will leave Champions
Alan Hutton has suggested Kalvin Phillips could quit Man City next season – with the likes of Arsenal and West Ham keen on a possible deal.
The Gunners are sitting top of the Premier League and are now a side that big players are keen to join after the wonderful job that Mikel Arteta has done over the past few seasons.
At Leeds – Phillips established himself as one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League – and that prompted Man City boss Pep Guardiola to take him to the Etihad.
However – the move has not quite worked out and he has struggled to make an impact -with a number of injuries keeping him on the sidelines more often that he would have hoped for.
Now – amid all the speculation – Hutton has opened up and admitted that Phillips may decide to leave Man City at the end of the season in order to get regular first team football – He told Footballinsider:
“I think he will want to stay within himself.
“Man City is a big club, you are going to go for all the trophies. It has not quite worked out for him through injury. The overweight thing did not help him either, especially when the fans are singing it at him.
“It is not ideal but when he signed I did not think he was going to play week in week out. I think he maybe knew that. Probably in the next season or so if he is still not playing I think he will maybe look to get out.

Phillips is one of the best holding midfielders in the game – he really is quality and it is a shame that he has been unable to find the form that he showed at Leeds and for England.
Arsenal are in the market for a top-class holding midfielder – and surely there would not be too many fans out there that wouldnt like to see the star arrive?
