Arsenal to make move for unhappy Barcelona star Gomes as Ramsey replacement
Reports have claimed Arsenal could make a move for Barcelona star Andre Gomes, as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey.
Gomes has failed to establish himself at Camp Nou in the two years since he left Valencia for Catalonia and has only made just over 80 appearances in all competitions.
His performances for the Spanish club have been heavily criticised by a number of media outlets, with some even suggesting that he is simply not good enough to be a regular starter at Barcelona.
And with news that Ramsey will be leaving the club after failing to agree a new contract at the club, the TalkSport website have claimed Emery could make a January move for the unhappy Gomes.
Emery is still looking to improve his midfield this January and reportedly feels the Portuguese could be the perfect partner for former Sampdoria ace Lucas Torreira.
Gomes hinted hinted in the summer he is keen on a move away from the club, having admitted he is hating life at the Spanish giants.
“I don’t feel good on the pitch,” Gomes told Panenka magazine last season.
“I am not enjoying what I am doing. The first six months were pretty good but then things changed.
“Maybe it’s not the right word to use, but it has turned into a bit of a hell, because I have started to feel more pressure.
“With pressure I feel fine, but with the pressure on myself, I don’t. The feeling that I have during games is bad.”
Could Arsenal really sign Gomes? Here is what we think.
Gomes is a very good player that is just having a very bad time of it at Barcelona and if Arsenal can make a move and land him for the right price, he would be a very good replacement for the un greedy Ramsey.
