Gunners fans told Manchester United target wanted to sign up with the Arsenal
Aaron Ramsey wanted to sign a new deal at Arsenal but didn’t feel valued “financially” by the club, says recently-axed former boss Unai Emery.
Ramsey was in talks over a new deal for months, but simply could not come to some sort of agreement at the club as very high wages, and rumours he would not be part of Unai Emery’s plans at the Emirates, meant he was able to agree a pre-contract agreement with Juventus in January.
And he announced that he would be making that big move to Juventus, after agreeing a four-and-a-half year deal with the Champions for a wage of around £325,000-a-week.
He spent 11 years with Arsenal after joining the Gunners as a teenager from Cardiff and, will go down in history as one of the club’s greatest midfielders having scored two FA Cup final winning goals.
Now Emery has come out and told the Arsenal fans that Ramsey actually wanted to stay at the club, he told The Guardian: “[Initially] he wanted to stay.
“He needed to negotiate a new contract and they didn’t reach an agreement. The club had doubts about renewing for a certain sum.
“Ramsey wanted to feel valued. It was a financial matter; I can’t get involved. And I still didn’t know him well when I arrived. He’s important but I can’t say what they should pay him.”
Ramsey has been recently linked with a move back to the Premier League in the summer, with reports suggesting that Manchester United are interested in bringing him from Juventus in a deal worth around £40-50 million.
Look, it was clear that Ramsey did want to stay at the Arsenal, but it didnt happen and he made that move to Juventus, where he has earned a massive wage and played a few games.
It doesnt really matter if he wanted to stay or not, but the question is, would Arsenal fans take him back if he decided that he did not want to sign for United in the summer?
But if he does join Manchester United, will Arsenal fans hate him for joining a club that has constantly signed former Arsenal players over the seasons?
This will be an interesting one to watch.
