Pace, skill and headling to Emirates? Renne ready to do Arsenal deal for £40 million winger
Arsenal boss Unai Emery is reportedly ready to offer Renne star Ismaila Sarr a move to the Emirates in the January transfer window.
The Gunners boss, who is currently on a nine match winning streak at the Emirates, is looking to add a bit more pace and skill to the wings after failing to land any wingers in the summer transfer window after improving his back-line and central midfield options.
But after starting the new season in fine form, he is keen to tweak his forward line in the winter window and has reportedly set his sight on Rennes winger Sarr, according to the Sun website, who have reported Arsenal have been impressed by the 20-year-old’s finishing and pace.
And with reports Rennes are also willing to cash in on their most priced asset, to sell for a fee of around £40 million, Emery is eager to get the deal done for the Barcelona transfer target, who has found the net seven times in 29 appearances for the Ligue 1 side.
Could Sarr be a good buy for Arsenal in the January transfer window? Here is what we think.
The lad has great potential and has all the qualities to be a real star at the Emirates, so if Emery can get a deal done in the January transfer window, he would be a great asset to the club for the future, especially with the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Danny Welbeck linked with a move away from the club.
However, £40 million for a player that is still making his name in the game is a bit much and Arsenal would do well to try and get him for half the price, as that is what he is currently worth.
But buying young means he would be an investment and Emery would have to do better than some of the players Arsene Wenger brought towards the end of his Arsenal reign.
