Fans sent message about the possible Arsenal signing of £1 million-a-week star
Arsenal have been ruled out of the chase to sign much talked about PSG star Kylian Mbappe in the January window
Several French media reported on Tuesday that the striker was fed up with unfulfilled promises by PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi and wanted to leave the capital as soon as possible.
The 23-year-old France international was linked with a move to La Liga champions Real Madrid in the close season and was expected to move from the Paris club after five years – instead signing a massive contract to stay
The news about him possibly wanting to leave PSG in the coming transfer window has led to all sorts of speculation that some of the biggest clubs in the game are ready to smash records in order to sign the Frenchman
But despite the speculation suggesting that Arsenal may be interested in a potential move to sign the attacker – Journalist Ben Jacobs has opened up and ruled the Gunners out of making a move for the man
Jacobs insists that we will not be entertaining a move to try and land him despite his current situation.
“Arsenal are not in the race for Mbappe,” Jacobs told the Football Terrace podcast.
“They would not seriously entertain any kind of offer or bid for him, that one is a complete non-starter. And Newcastle, as I mentioned is another possible destination in the sense that PIF want a marquee signing.
‘But there’s absolutely nothing in it at the moment.”
Despite all the rumours – Mbappe has claimed that all the speculation in false: “I never asked for my departure in January,” he told reporters after PSG’s 1-0 win over Marseille in Ligue 1 on Sunday.
“The information that came out on the day of the [Champions League match against Benfica], I did not understand it. I am not involved in this information neither directly nor indirectly.”
“I was as shocked by this news as everyone else. People may think I’m involved, I’m not at all,” Mbappe added.
“I was taking a nap, my entourage was at my little brother’s game. We were stunned when we found out.
“Afterwards, we had to deal with it, we had a match to play. I just wanted to say that it’s completely false, I’m very happy here.”
