Arteta message sent – as Arsenal close to signing brilliant £40M midfielder
Bacary Sagna has warned Arsenal off a move for Leicester star Youri Tielemans, urging Mikel Arteta to invest in other areas of his squad.
With all the reports that Mikel Arteta is a man that knows he needs to add a bit more Premier League quality to the squad in the transfer window, there has been alot of speculation about players that could be arriving at the club
Tielemans is expected to leave Leicester City this summer when he will have just a year remaining on his current contract, and Arsenal are among the Premier League clubs who have been linked with a move
And according to reports – there is growing confidence from the player’s camp and the Emirates club that Tielemans will be an Arsenal player next season.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta wants to boost the quality and depth of his midfield options this summer, and Tielemans would be an upgrade on both Granit Xhaka, whose future at the Emirates is uncertain, and Mohamed Elneny, with his contract expiring this summer.
However, amid all the speculation that Arsenal are close to a deal to sign Tielemans – Sagna has come out and suggested that the Leicester star is not signed and Arteta uses the money to improve other areas of the pitch.
Sagna said on the SUN: “Arsenal already have quality midfield players and [Mohamed] Elneny who’s doing really well.
“So, I’m not sure whether they should cover more of the midfield position, we’ve got [Thomas] Partey too and he’s important.
“In my mind they should focus on signing a centre-back and a striker.”

We do not know the budget that Arteta has right now to improve this squad – but Tielemans is certainly a player that the club should sign in order to keep progressing – he really is brilliant
Yes Arteta needs to improve other areas of the pitch – but this will probably be the only chance they get to sign Tielemans – take it – dont listen to Sagna
