Arsenal want to extend the contract of French defender William Saliba, according to David Ornstein.
After being sent out on loan for a couple of seasons and impressing in French football – the Gunners board made the decision to bring the Frenchman back and finally give him a chance in the side
Saliba was rated as the finest young defender in the French League last season – and has started the season in fine fashion – with his performances at the back helping Arsenal to the very top of the Premier League
Arsenal knows that there is alot of interest in the player – and also know that interest will grow over the next few months as he continues to impress on a weekly basis – so are now eager to make sure that he signs a new deal
And With his contract expiring in two years, the Premier League leaders want to tie him down for the foreseeable future as soon as possible – Ornestein has claimed
🚨 Inter Miami increasingly confident of signing Lionel Messi. Not fully agreed but #InterMiamiCF now expect 35yo to join & hope it gets done in coming months. Talks resume after #WorldCup2022. #PSG still want renewal + #FCBarcelona will try @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/dQgNPaYg2e

Saliba is a brilliantly gifted young man that has the ability to become one of the very best defenders in the game – so if he continues to shine – Arsenal need to make sure that they get him signed up to a new deal
However – he does not need to agree a new contract – especially as he wants to be challenging for the big trophies and playing in the Champions League.
So, he knows that there is no rush – but fans cannot wait to see him agree a new contract
Arsenal may want to get a deal done – but right now – he can demand anything he wants as he knows that he could get that somewhere else
