Pundit sends clear message to Arsenal fans about ‘affordable’ £63 million signing

will chelsea sign erling haaland?

Robbie Savage has rubbished suggestions that Arsenal could sign Erling Haaland as his release clause is reportedly affordable for the Gunners.

Regarded as one of the finest strikers in world football right now, Haaland is wanted by all the major clubs in the game after developing into one of the most deadly forwards in the Bundesliga and possibly Europe.

At the end of the season all the big clubs can get him for just £63 million, as a clause in his contract allows him to leave Borussia Dortmund for that fee, despite the fact he would cost in the region of £200 million on a normal basis

There has been some suggestions that Arsenal may decide to make a move for Haaland as they can afford that £63 million price tag, especially as they will need to sign a new striker as Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are seemingly both set to depart the club

However, former Manchester United star Savage doesn’t think the Gunners stand a chance to land the former Molde youngster.

Chris Sutton asked him on BBC Radio 5 Live Sport via HITC: “He’s not going to go to Arsenal though, is he? “How much would you have to pay for Haaland?”

Savage said: “I think he has a clause, isn’t it £60 odd million? I get what you are saying, but you may as well bid for Mbappé then for £200 million.

“But you are not going to get Haaland either. Even if you put a bid in. He’s not going to go to Arsenal. Why would he go to Arsenal.”

Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world and it is easy to see just why Arsenal are keen. But they cannot fend off the big clubs that will come calling for the man at the end of the season.

They may be able to afford him, but it will be about more than money for the man when he chooses his next club
