Arsenal should offer Frenchman Premier League lifeline after exit confirmed
Arsenal could make a move for Anthony Martial now that he has departed Man United, according to reporter Iomie Stanley.
Martial, a 30-time French international, joined the Red Devils in 2015 as a teenager from Monaco. The deal was worth an initial £36m, potentially rising as high as £57.6m.
But despite all the hype and some decent performances during his stay at United – he never really lived upto expectations at Old Trafford and has fallen well down the pecking order over the past few seasons.
The Frenchman’s contract expires at the end of 2023/24 campaign and having not agreed an extension, he has announced that he will be departing
ARSENAL have long been admirers of the Frenchman and with Mikel Arteta seeking to add some depth to the squad – the Gunners could be willing to offer Martial a contract, according to Stanley.
He told icfootballnews: ‘Martial is leaving Man United after nine seasons – his time is up at Old Trafford and it may be the best thing for his career.
‘He ay have struggled in recent seasons – but under the right manager and with the pressure off his shoulders – he could be a worthwhile signing for the like of Arsenal.
‘It is no secret that Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have both been linked with moves away from ARSENAL – and with the Arteta seeking to add some depth to the side – it could be seen as a bargain to get Martial.
‘He is only 28-years of age and still has a few seasons left in him – if the Gunners feel that they can reignite his career at the club – it could be a worthwhile move to bring him to Arsenal and see how he does for the next 12 months.
‘They have helped reignite the career of Kai Havertz – they could do it with Martial too.’
