ARSENAL would ‘prefer’ to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi over Brighton ace Moises Caicedo this summer, according to transfer expert Steve Kay.

After a very confident start to the new season with Brighton – Caicedo has become one of the most talked about midfielders in the Premier League and a man that the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are all interested in.

But Caicedo is keeping his feet on the ground and despite some tension during the January window, he insists he is happy at Brighton and not thinking about a move elsewhere.

Now – according to Kay – the Gunners board would much rather sign the talented Zubimend over the possible signing of Caicedo.

Zubimendi will prove to be a cheaper purchase, too, as he is believed to have a release clause of £52.5m in his contract. On Twitter, Kay said: “Arsenal would prefer to sign Martin Zubimendi over Moises Caicedo in the upcoming summer window alongside midfielder Declan Rice.

“AFC tried to sign the Sociedad player in January before Caicedo but he wanted to keep loyal to the Spanish club until the end of the season.”

There is still alot of speculation and rumours about what players the Gunners will look to sign in the transfer window – but right now – the club are just focusing in on trying to win the Premier League and Europa League titles.

Zubimendi is a very talented lad that will cost some serious money – but considering all the midfield talent that the club already have at the club – he would struggle to make much of an impact.

It will be interesting to see what type of players the club try to sign in the summer – especially if ARSENAL win that Premier League title for the very first time since 2004.
