‘I want to go to Arsenal’ defender announces as Arsenal in deep talks for Soyuncu

£35 million rated Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu has confirmed he wants to sign for Arsenal this summer transfer window, as talks continue over a transfer deal.

It is no secret the Gunners are looking to improve their back-line this transfer window and have already acquired the services of former Juventus full-back Stephen Lichsteiner.

But they are also looking to add another centre-half the squad and have long been linked with a move for the very highly-rated Soyuncu, who has become one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga.

And it has emerged the Turkey international is keen to join Emery’s Arsenal revolution.

‘Arsenal are an option & I want to go there. But I have 3 more years on my current contract and everything depends on the club [Freiburg],’ he was quoted on the Sky Sports website.

‘I received offers from teams in Turkey. I would not be able to give you a name, but I rejected them. I do not think about playing in Turkey at the moment. I want to continue my career in Europe…I want to play for the biggest clubs.’

The 22-year-old centre back has made 55 appearances for Freiburg since joining in 2016 and has been capped 15 times by Turkey.

Soyuncu’s agent, Mustafa Dogru, said earlier in the month: “Sven Mislintat (Arsenal head of recruitment) has been keen on Caglar since he was at Borussia Dortmund.

“There are concrete talks – all that remains is for a fee to be agreed.”

The Gunners have been very busy this transfer window and could have a whole new back-line by the end of the transfer window as Sokratis is expected to also sign by the end of the month.
