Martial and out? Arsenal and Tottenham get transfer boost from agent of Man United star

Anthony Martial’s agent has cast doubt on the prospect of the France forward signing a long-term deal with Manchester United, alerting both Arsenal and Tottenham.

Martial had been heavily criticised by ex-boss Jose Mourinho, and a number of former players, for his inability to put in decent performances on a weekly basis, with the Frenchman going missing at times when he is needed most.

And that has led to speculation that he could head to the likes of Arsenal, Spurs, PSG or Juventus in the next transfer window, with reports he has become unsettled with life at Old Trafford.

Martial has been in contract talks for months now and with the club no closer to sealing a new contract, his agent has put the chasing clubs on full alert.

Martial’s agent Philippe Lamboley told French radio station RMC: “I am very pessimistic about discussions going positively.

“They’ve already made several offers that come nowhere near to what we expect. We are far from agreement, for the time being.”

Could Martial end up at Arsenal or Spurs?

The young Frenchman clearly has the ability to score on a regular basis and could become a world class winger, but if United are not prepared to give him the kind of money he wants, then Arsenal and Spurs will not either.

The London clubs know what players they need to improve the side and also have a strict wage budget, that they will not go over unless a player deserves it, and right now Martial would not command such a big fee.

So if he does leave United, then it will probably be for a club abroad as he will not get a better offer than the one United are leaving on the table.
