Arsenal FC transfer news: Premier League defender announcement means Arteta can get free signing?
Tottenham defender and long-term Arsenal target Jan Vertonghen admits he has a big decision to make over his future with his current contract up in the summer.
Arsenal may be having an inconsistent season at the moment as Mikel Arteta tries to get this side back inside the Champions League spots, but over at Spurs, it has not looked good from the moment Jose Mourinho arrived.
The Special one replaced fans favourite Mauricio Pochettino just before Christmas and was supposed to get the club challenging for more than a top four spot, but he has failed to get the results he needs, they are out the FA Cup, out of the League Cup, out of the Champions league and are well behind in the Champions League chase.
That has led to players being linked with moves away, with Christian Eriksen already heading over to Italy, while there is massive talk both Dele Ali and Harry kane may feel that a move away in the summer will give them a chance to win trophies.
Now, Long-term Arsenal target Vertonghen, who could still get a move to the ARSENAL in the summer, has opened up and admitted that he has a bid decision to make on whether or not he will stay with the Spurs: “I’m in a process right now that I have to grab a piece of paper and write down the pros and cons of the options I will have soon,” Vertonghen WAS QUOTED ON TALKSPORT
“I will really have to decide what I want in my career. In three to four years, I will normally return to the place where I will likely settle down.
“I have to start thinking about where I still want to live, what language I want to learn, what culture I still want to live in.
“And also very importantly: which competitions and prizes I still want to win. I don’t want to regret anything in my career.”
If Vertonghen does leave the club, it will not be a shock, but if ARSENAL are seeking to add some experience to the back-line for nothing, why not make a move? He still has something to offer in the Premier League.
