Wow! Unai Emery officially names four Arsenal Captains after Xhaka officially gets stripped of role!
XHAKA STRIPPED OF ARSENAL CAPTAINCY!
Unai Emery has revealed that Granit Xhaka has been stripped of the Captaincy at Arsenal.
Xhaka’s substitution during the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace was greeted by sarcastic cheers and the Gunners captain responded by throwing his arms in the air and cupping his ears and the 27-year-old was then seen mouthing ‘f*** off’ at the home fans before he removed his shirt and stormed down the tunnel.
Ans his actions during that game has not led to a lot of speculation in the media about whom could be the next captain at the club, as his actions was that not of a man that should be leading this side, and with not many leaders at the Emirates, there were numerous calls for the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to now be Captain of the club.
And after Emery told Xhaka on Tuesday morning he was no longer part of the Gunners’ leadership group, fans found out that Aubameyang, along with Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Hector Bellerin will be the four Captains of the Gunners.
“I think we need to take time with him, first to protect him and also to be calm and training with us every day. But I was speaking with him this morning and also I decided he’s not one of the captains in our group and I decided that and I told him this morning,” Emery told Arsenal’s website.
“We have now Aubameyang, Hector, Lacazette and Ozil – they are the four captains, and first is now Aubameyang,” confirmed Emery.
“If you do something like what he did in the Palace match, I don’t think you can have too much argument [against losing the captaincy].
“But l think coming back without being the captain might help him and help his game.”
Look taking the Captaincy off the shoulder of Xhaka was a very good decision from Emery as the man will surely now be packing his bags and exiting the club in the coming months, especially as the Arsenal fans are totally against him.
But are Arsenal fans happy to hear that AUbameyang and has given the Gunners armband?
