Sorry Man United as Arsenal ‘are in talks’ to sign exciting £35 million rated winger Neres ahead of Red Devils
Reports have emerged and claimed that Arsenal are in talks to sign Ajax winger David Neres, who is also on the shopping list of Manchester United.
Unai Emery may have spent over £70 million in his first summer transfer window, but he is expected to be handed around £100 million in the coming transfer window as the Gunners hierarchy are aiming to get the club back challenging for the Premier League title, and latter stages of the Champions League.
And with the likes of Aaron Ramsey heading for Juventus and Danny Welbeck not getting a new contract with the club, it is clear that Emery will need to add to his attack in the coming months, with the very impressive Neres now on the shopping list after helping Ajax get back to the very top of the game.
The 22-year-old has been in sublime form for the Dutch club this season with 12 goals and 15 assists so far, while his latest strike came in the 1-1 draw against Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday evening and he has also been rewarded for his fine performances with a call-up to the Brazilian National side.
The Brazilian has caught the attentions of a number of sides across Europe, but according to The Daily Telegraph, Arsenal have begun negotiations with Ajax over a potential deal with some reports even suggesting they could go as high as £40 million to secure a transfer deal.
However, as we said there is a lot of clubs interested in acquiring the services of Neres and Arsenal will have to be prepared to go higher than they currently want to try and secure a deal for the talented winger, which has squashed many transfer deals in the past.
Emery knows what type of players he needs to come in and improve the side at the end of the season and although Neres is not that big named winger that many fans would like, he is proving on a regular basis that he is able to play at the very highest level, and be very accomplished at it.
£40 million is not a lot of money for a player that is coming into his prime, but with all the interest shown already, that valuation is sure to go up and Arsenal will need to splash close to £60 million to try and get this deal done.
However, Neres would be perfect for Arsenal as they are in need of adding some width to the side.
