Arsenal transfer target Gabriel opens up and opens door to Premier League move
Rumoured Arsenal target Gabriel has opened the door to a Premier League move, by revealing his high ambitions.
It is no secret that Mikel Arteta is keen to improve that back-line during the summer transfer window and has been linked with a whole host of possible candidates that can come in and do a better job than the current defence at the Emirates.
The Gunners results may have picked up just before the coronavirus hit football, but they still need to back Mikel Arteta in the transfer window in order to sign a few defenders that will actually improve the side.
And Arsenal remain one of the favourites to land Lille’s young Brazilian centre-back, who has featured in the Champions League, playing twice against Chelsea in this season’s group stages.
Napoli have also been linked with the Brazilian, who has now admitted that a move to England or Italy holds great appeal to him.
Gabriel told L’Equipe: “It is gratifying because there are a lot of teams talking about me.
“I want to go as high as possible, I came to Europe for that. England or Italy? Both are good championships.
“I speak a lot to Luis Campos to see where it is best for me because he has a lot of experience. I also speak with my agents, with Gerard Lopez, with Jose Fonte.
“Gennaro Gattuso [Napoli’s manager] likes me a lot? I don’t know, we haven’t talked. On the internet, on social networks, there are a lot of things coming out. I do not know what is true. I see every day, ‘ah Gabriel goes there, then there’.
“But in fact, we don’t know yet where I’m going to go. Wherever I go it will be to play, to be at the top, at the highest level. And above all in a team that will allow me to go to the Selecao.
“This is my big goal, my dream. I hope that I will be there soon.”
His £27 million price tag is not alot of money to spend for such a gifted defender and he is well within that transfer budget of the Gunners, who will probably frustrate fans in the transfer window again this summer.
Look, Gabriel is certainly showing the kind of ability that will succeed in the Premier League over the next few seasons, and if the club manage to secure a transfer deal, they will do very well.
