Arsenal target shows interest in leaving Newcastle at the end of the season
Newcastle star Ayoze Perez has dropped a massive hint that he is ready to leave the club at the end of the season, with Arsenal on the list of admirers.
Gunners boss Unai Emery is already eyeing up a number of possible summer transfer targets to come in and add a bit more depth to the Arsenal side, with the Arsenal boss keen to add another forward to his front-line to keep Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on their toes.
Lacazette and Aubameyang may have 37-goals between them this season, but if Emery wants to take Arsenal to that next level next season then he will need to keep his star duo on top form, as they are the main source of the Gunners goals.
And one name that has been mentioned in the media over the past few weeks is that of Perez, who was a transfer target for Arsenal just before he made the move to Newcastle a few seasons ago and the Arsenal have been keeping an eye on his developments over the past few months.
And while his goals on Saturday in Newcastle’s 3-1 defeat of Southampton all but kept Rafa Benitez’s team in the Premier League, he has hinted he may be for the off from St James’ Park.
Perez told reporters after the game: “In the summer, there are going to be options. That means I have done something well. I’ll be up for hearing what is coming, but it doesn’t mean I am going to leave 100 per cent at the end of the season.”
Newcastle are a good stepping stone for young players to develop in the Premier League and then make that big money move to one of the big boys, and it is no shock to see that Perez is eyeing up a potential move away.
Arsenal play the kind of football that he enjoys and he would be a very useful squad member to play in the games that Lacazette or Aubameyang are not involved, but only if he is brought in at the right price.
A fee of around £20 million would be a decent deal.
