Arteta and Edu backed to complete Arsenal signing of ‘really, really good’ £68M man

It has again been claimed that Arsenal have been tipped to complete the signing of Lyon star Lucas Paqueta

Paqueta is a player that has been in the headlines a lot over the past few weeks after it emerged that he was a player that Edu would love to bring to the club after an impressive season with the French side

Lyon are holding out for a €80 million (£67.6m) fee for the Brazil international – who was voted as the best foreign player in Ligue 1 last season – and that has become a problem as the Gunners do not want to pay that amount of money

However – Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte have claimed that Arsenal ‘appear the main candidate’ to sign him this summer and will win the race for the Brazilian

The Arsenal boss is a known fan of the Brazilian, who scored 10 goals in 34 appearances last season.

Amid the speculation Kevin Campbell has claimed that he would be a great signing for the Gunners – he recently told Football Insider: “Paqueta looks like a really, really good footballer.

“He is another Brazil international. Hey, come and join the Brazilian revolution! It is happening in London, and it is happening at Arsenal.

“Listen, you can never have enough quality players, especially with the five-substitute rule now.

“The pursuit of the likes of Paqueta and [Youri] Tielemans could go right to the end of the window. These are the players who are difference makers.

“The team is performing now. Could you imagine if you bolster that with two, three, four of the players we are talking about? All of a sudden people would be like, ‘Hold on a minute, something it really happening at the Emirates.’

“I like what I am hearing, and I like what I am seeing. Paqueta would be a brilliant signing.”
