Sorry Everton as Emery to bring impressive Barcelona star Gomes to Arsenal this summer?
Reports have claimed Arsenal boss Unai Emery could reignite his interest in on-loan Everton midfielder Andre Gomes this coming summer.
With Aaron Ramsey leaving the club at the end of the season and heading off to Seria A with giants Juventus, Arsenal are in need of some creativity and drive in the heart of their midfield to help fill the void of the Welshmans departure from the club.
Emery will have a limited transfer kitty to play around with and has been linked with a whole host of players over the course of the last few months, but one player that has caught the Spaniards attention once again is that of Gomes.
Emery was keen to try and acquire the services of Gomes last summer, but he missed out on a potential deal as the Gunners took too long to conclude any business and in the end the Barcelona ace decided to make the loan move to Premier League rivals Everton.
Gomes has impressed in the Everton midfield this season, proving quality on the ball whilst striking up a strong partnership with Idrissa Gueye in the heart of Marco Silva’s engine room.
And according to reports on the Daily Express website, a swoop for Gomes, whose move to Barcelona was facilitated by the Gunners’ director of football Raul Sanllehi, could be on the cards.
Everton fans will not be happy to hear Arsenal are interested in making a move for the 25-year old Gomes, but the Barcelona midfielder has shown enough quality to earn that big money move to a side like the Gunners.
Emery needs to add a different dimension to his squad at the end of the season and rather than trying to sign a player that has not adapted to the Premier League, spending around £25-30 million could be a very good bit of business by the club.
However, there are a few clubs interested in Gomes and Arsenal will need to get Champions League football before they can start trying to attract big players during the summer transfer window.
the Gunners are favourites to lift the Europa league this season, and being Champions of Europe aswell as Champions League football for next season, will give them a better chance of signing Gomes this summer.
