Arsenal ‘To Steal’ Trophy-Laiden £40 million defender From Barcelona

If Barcelona cannot afford to sign Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo on a long-term contract, Arsenal is allegedly prepared to make a summer raid for the full-back.

Cancelo has a contract with Man City through June 2027, but after losing favour with Pep Guardiola, it appears that he will not be playing at the Etihad Stadium in the future and is seeking a more permanent move away from the club.

Cancelo has openly stated his desire to join Barcelona permanently, and Man City is reportedly willing to let him go this summer. The Sun claims that Barca’s financial issues prevent them from agreeing to pay Man City’s £40 million asking price for Cancelo, which has opened the door for ARSENAL to try and get  a deal done.

Arteta and Cancelo worked together for a few months at Man City before the Spaniard left to take charge of Arsenal.

And if you believe the words of Reporter Iomie Stanley – he could be a very good addition to that Arsenal side.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

‘Man City now feel that ARSENAL will be serious title contenders for next season and will not want to sell anymore players to Mikel Arteta that they believe would improve the squad.

‘Cancelo is a brilliant star that would be a great signing for the Gunners and that is why Man City will not allow him to move to London unless it is for crazy money that the defender is no longer worth.

‘He would be a player that Arteta would love to add to the squad – and a man that would further improve that Gunners squad – Arsenal have spent some serious money over the last few windows – he could be the icing on top of the cake.’
