Arsenal free to sign Holland International – as he ‘wants to quit’ European giants
Arsenal have received a transfer boost as Memphis Depay “won’t join Inter Milan” but will still quit Barcelona.
Barcelona was in shambles after Lionel Messi left the club, as they were depended heavily on him for goals and as soon as the player left the club, there was a void and a lack of goals.
Dutchman Memphis Depay was brought in to fill in the space left behind by the Argentine, but he was not consistent enough in front of the goal and injuries have also messed up his time with the club.
Add the fact that the club signed Robert Lewandowski in the summer transfer window – and Depay has seen his minutes on the pitch drop dramatically – which has led to more speculation that he could leave in the coming transfer window
Both Manchester United and the Gunners, as well as Newcastle, have been plotting a swoop for Memphis.
A fresh report claims the winger was deep in talks with Inter over a transfer to the Serie A club, dashing the hopes of a return to the Premier League. But the Netherlands international’s representative has denied those rumours.
Memphis’ lawyer Sebastien Ledure said: “There are no negotiations ongoing for Memphis to join Inter. I can deny all these links — it’s not a possibility we are discussing.”
And transfer expert Fabrizio Romano added: “Understand Depay will leave Barca in January, as Atletico Madrid remain interested”
