Impressive star should get dropped for World class act – Arsenal boss told!

nketiah

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Gabriel Jesus should come into the Arsenal lineup ahead of Eddie Nketiah for their next fixture against Everton.

Jesus missed the first three games of the 2023-24 campaign with a knee injury that kept him out for most of last season, but has now returned to full fitness after recovering very nicely over the past few months.

Nketiah has started three of the Gunners’ first five games of the season, scoring twice, and has been impressing while the Brazilian star has been working hard to get back to full fitness.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think Jesus is the number one for Arsenal. When Arteta brought him to the club, he was probably thinking that this is his new first-choice striker.

“He’s had his injury problems, but when both players are fit – Jesus is the better player. Maybe Nketiah is the better finisher or the better poacher, but Jesus does a lot for Arsenal.

“He comes off the defenders, into the space, creating a lot for Martinelli and Saka. So I think for ARSENAL’s next game, Everton away, Jesus has to come in and start.”

However, Nketiah has revealed he is ready to battle for his place in the starting line-up and has warned the Brazilian international that he will have to work hard to get his starting spot back.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

“It’s nice to be competing with him (Jesus),” he told reporters at St. George’s Park. “It will only do good things for myself and for him.

“We both want to do the same thing and help the team. We push each other in training. It’s healthy and friendly competition. We have a good relationship and we support each other.”
