Arsenal told to sign Brilliant Frenchman after reaching £33M agreement
Emmanuel Petit believes Arsenal should withdraw their interest in £33m target Mikel Merino and launch an audacious move for former Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.
Chelsea offloaded the Frenchman last summer as he joined the Saudi Pro League influx, signing for Al-Ittihad, as his time at Stamford Bridge was over because of the players age and performances.
However, despite turning 34 in March, he was a standout player for France during this summer’s European Championships and has looked every inch the player that helped the Blues win so many titles over the years.
That has led to some stunning reports in the media which have claimed that he could be heading back to the Premier League and now Emmanuel Petit has urged ARSENAL to make a move for the Frenchman and pull out of a chase for Mikel Merino.
according to The Athletic, the clubs have agreed on a £33million fee including add-ons, with reports adding that Merino has already finalised personal terms on a four-year deal with the option of a further year, the report adds
He told Safest Casino Sites: “If Arsenal want to bring a player who will be great competition for the midfielders, I don’t think it should be Mikel Merino or Frenkie de Jong because they’re primarily number eights.
“I think Arsenal should bring back N’Golo Kante to the Premier League. I want him to play for Arsenal, he would be so important to the side in terms of rotation.
“Kante’s spirit, reading of the game and breaking the opposition lines is still top quality. He can play as a holding midfielder and as a number eight.
“When you look at ARSENAL’s squad, they’re all humble, that fits Kante perfectly and Arteta would love him.”
