Arsenal told to wrap up January deal for 12-goal star – Arteta needs to solve big problem
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has named Dominic Solanke as a potential alternative signing to Ivan Toney – and he could be a decent signing for the club
ARSENAL have once again been one of the most exciting sides to watch in the Premier League this season and have a real chance of winning that title if they are able to score the goals needed.
But Mikel Arteta has seen his side struggle at times this season, as Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus are not players that can score 20-30 goals a season, somthing that is needed at the Emirates.
Solanke started his professional career at Chelsea after spending a decade in the academy at Stamford Bridge. He was a prolific goalscorer at youth level but was rarely given the chance for the first team.
After an unsuccessful spell at Liverpool, he has found a home at Bournemouth and is finally proving he can score goals in the Premier League. He is enjoying his best campaign in front of goal in the top flight, with 12 strikes in 19 appearances.
Wright recently claimed that he believes that the Bournemouth No.9 may be another attacking option for the Gunners this January,
He said: “Of course, the link is something which is good for him [Toney].
“I don’t think he’s somebody that if you look at the goals output that he isn’t going to do something at Arsenal, maybe he will.
“Look at the way he plays for Brentford and the way ARSENAL try to play now. Then I am thinking, ‘yeah, I could see him in there’.

“But then you could also see a Dominic Solanke in the way he plays.
“Somebody who has got some pedigree from Chelsea from playing at a young age. Played at Liverpool. Learning his trade. Getting ridiculed for the lack of goals.
“Look at him now, he is a proper modern centre-forward in everything he does – he is another person they are going to be linked to and probably in and around.”
And reporter Iomie Stanley claims that Arsenal need to sign a striker – and Solanke is a man that could score a few goals – he said: ‘ Obviously Arsenal fans want Ivan Toney – he is the number one target for the club.
‘But that seems too impossible to do this transfer window – Solanke would cost well below £50 million and is scoring goals for fun – he is the type of target man that could surprise many at the Emirates and win a few games for the club with his goals.
‘It could be a very good bit of business to get this done to solve a big problem’
